Much Cheaper Estimate?

Why did you get a much cheaper estimate from another painter?
Let's explore the possibilities.
Is it possible they are using much cheaper materials they purchased from a big box store, instead of quality paint from a paint specific retailer? Those cheaper paints are cheaper because there is more water in them. As it turns out, it's very expensive water. They will not hold up to the sun's UV rays or normal wear and tear. In a year you'll be standing in front of one of your walls, wondering what went wrong.
Is it possible that they don't have much experience in the trade? There are not very many obstacles of entry to beginning a painting company. You need a roller, a pan, a brush and perhaps an old van. Almost anyone can show up with those items and call themselves painters. Then three weeks after they've come and on, and your check was cashed, their paint job begins pealing because they didn't prep the surface properly.
Did they present the estimate in a professional manner, prepared with estimating software or was it a number scribbled on a torn corner of paper? I have seen this from a customer that hired one of these fly-by-night painters. And they didn't provide a warranty or invoice for that matter.
